Spaldwick Parish Council

Welcome

This is the Parish Council web-site for the village of Spaldwick in Cambridgeshire. The Parish Council hope to make it a useful centre for information about the Parish and how the Council represents its Parishioners.

Agendas for upcoming Parish Council meetings and the minutes from previous meetings, along with various other information are available.  Please note that you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer in order to read or print the documents; if you don’t have the reader you can download it here.  Minutes of the previous meeting are approved at each monthly meeting and copies are available on the Parish Council website and village noticeboards.

Council meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month except August when there is no meeting, and the date of the December meeting is subject to change.  Additional meetings for urgent discussions are also arranged as and when required.  The meetings start at 7pm in Spaldwick Community Room (attached to Spaldwick School) and members of the public are welcome to attend, however, the public cannot participate in the meeting.  There is a public open forum at the beginning of each meeting for anyone who wishes to address the Council on matters that appear on the agenda.

In May of each year the Parish Council holds an Annual Parish Meeting and the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council.

At the Annual Parish Meeting the Chair of the Council produces an update regarding progress during the previous year and plans for the forthcoming year. Various groups within the village are also invited to attend and share details of key features of the previous year.  It is also an opportunity for registered electors to raise any matters of concern.

At the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council the Chair and Vice Chair stand down and nominations are taken for a Chair and Vice Chair for the upcoming year; these are then elected by the other members of the council. Every four years there is an election of the whole council.
